Weekends are better than bookends

I’m amazed Chris hasn’t plugged this yet, but as it’s been making the Blog rounds recently I thought I’d give a “shout out” to the impressive music of Sufjan Stevens (no, we don’t know how to pronounce it either), specifically his Illinois album, and more pointedly the song “John Wayne Gacy Jr.

This past weekend I was in Riverside, California marvelling at how “cold” 68° can feel when you’re from a desert wasteland such as Arizona. Honestly, I needed a sweater and not just for fashionable impress.

It was a beautiful reminder, this trip, of how little I enjoy living here, in these conditions, with these people. The grass is always greener, you could say, and I’d respond with a sigh and a whimper and maybe request a glass of water.
