Kitchen Confidential
I’ve seen a few promos for Fox’s new sitcom, Kitchen Confidential, but it takes the lining of a few planets and the correct mix of other traits for me to actually proactively seek *out* a show. Usually, I like a strong recommendation from someone I trust, a promo clip that can make me laugh aloud within 30 seconds, and a seemingly decent premise. Also, lately, I’ve been staying away from any new shows with a laugh track. Not that anyone does that anymore, anyway.
ANYway, I saw a quick clip suggesting I visit the Kitchen Confidential MySpace site, where they’re streaming the entire new episode of the week, commercial free.
Note to network executives: Offering an entire episode (or series of episodes) in a commercial free, streamable format online for me so that I don’t have to go BitTorrent it is the perfect way to get me actively watching the show. If it’s good. Fortunately, Kitchen Confidential is pretty damn hilarious. The best quote comes when the restaurant receives a shipment of live rabbits, when they normally receive rabbit meat. No one is exactly keen to the idea of slaying a bunch of rabbits outright, except for “Ramon,” the mexican dishwasher, who whips out a switchblade and claims “I’ll do it.” Anyway, the quote I most liked was when the head chef says “I’ve cooked thousands of animals FAR cuter than that. Now where’s my rabbit-stabbing-knife?”
I’m sorry, but “rabbit-stabbing-knife” is a keeper, folks. And so is this show. Kudos, Fox. Well played.
